Architect Regulations

Who Regulates?

What is A.I.A.?

In this newsletter we will help to understand four important questions. How do I start the process? What is the process? Will I need an engineer? What is construction contract administration?

This discussion will help you to understand all the aspects of our design process.

Who regulates Architects? How can I tell if I'm working with a registered Architect?

Architects are licensed and certified by the Texas Board of Architectural Examiners. You can contact the TBAE at:

TBAE
PO Box 12337
Austin, Texas 78701
Office: (512) 205.9000 Fax: (512) 305.8900
www.tbae.state.tx.us

To verify certification of any Texas Architect, you can call the TBAE or search the listings at on their site.

Richard D. Jarvis, A.I.A., John E. Culpepper, A.I.A. and Michael H. Smith, A.I.A. are all certified in the State of Texas by the TBAE.

What is the A.I.A.?

A.I.A. is the American Institute of Architects, a national organization that maintains a professional standard of ethics and practice for Architects. Architects in Texas must be certified by the TBAE, but not all of them are members of the A.I.A.

John E. Culpepper, Richard D. Jarvis, and Michael H. Smith are all members of the A.I.A.

You can contact the A.I.A. at www.aia.org or its Houston office at www.aiahouston.org.
